Each coach or other adult (i.e, any person 18 years of age or older) having substantial contact with CYO youth MUST, before beginining his or her volunteer duties, become certified by completing the following four steps (in the order below):

1. Register with Virtus Online at www.virtusonline.org/virtus/reg_0.cfm?theme=0. When you register (use Washington, DC (Archdiocese) under the dropdown list), you will need to create a UserID and Password AND enroll for a mandatory Child Protection Workshop.

To register for a Child Protection Workshop, go to www.adw.org/news/default.asp?eventtype=14.

(IMPORTANT NOTE: The name under which you register for Virtus should match the name you provide on the Volunteer Application Form under Step 2.)

2. Complete the Volunteer Application Form, which is available for download/printing at http://site.adw.org/pdfs/Volunteer-Application-2014.docx.

3. Make an appointment with the Parish Compliance Coordinator (PCC), whose contact information is given below, to complete an online background check application (which takes five minutes).  When you come to the appointment, please bring with you (a) the Volunteer Application (completed under Step 2); (b) a check for $13.50 made out to "St. Jane de Chantal Parish"; and (c) two (2) government-issued IDs, one of which must be a photo ID.  (For a list of acceptable IDs see  http://061851f72b23d802adaa-d56582058559818728a814bdd94ad99a.r54.cf2.rackcdn.com/uploaded/a/0e2496217_1379944691_adw--bgc-identification-documents-options.pdf.)

4.  Attend the Child Protection Workshop and submit to the PCC a copy of the Attendance Certificate from the Workshop AND the signed Acknowledgement Page from the CPP Booklet (Appendix E, page 58), which can be downloading/printed from http://site.adw.org/pdfs/13policy-child-protection.pdf.
